Synergy Dance® Outreach brings Joy to KEF Kids Summer Respite scheme
Synergy Dance® Outreach was delighted to return to the KEF Kids Summer Respite Scheme at Treloar’s College, Alton, where we delivered two inclusive dance and movement sessions for children, young people and adults with a wide range of disabilities and additional needs.
The first session welcomed a lower-functioning group of wheelchair users, while the second session was designed for younger children aged 4–12 with varying cognitive abilities. Both sessions were filled with music, movement, laughter and opportunities for everyone to participate in a way that suited their individual abilities.
One of the highlights of the day was seeing a young wheelchair user proudly demonstrate his spinning skills before engaging in a joyful dance exchange with our instructor. Another memorable moment came when a visually impaired young person responded with smiles and enthusiasm throughout the session, showing just how powerful music and movement can be in creating meaningful connections.
The feedback from staff was incredibly positive, with many commenting on how engaged the young people were and how inclusive and welcoming the sessions felt. It was wonderful to see participants expressing themselves freely, building confidence and enjoying the opportunity to dance alongside their peers.
At Synergy Dance® Outreach, we believe everyone deserves the chance to experience the physical, emotional and social benefits of dance. Sessions like these help reduce isolation, encourage self-expression, promote physical activity and create moments of joy for children and young people who often face significant barriers to participation.
A huge thank you to KEF Kids for inviting us to be part of another fantastic summer respite programme. We thoroughly enjoyed spending time with such an inspiring group and look forward to dancing together again soon.
