Synergy Dance Outreach services provide dance, fitness and yoga classes at the highest standard and we ensure that we are meeting what is needed locally. Our services provide opportunities for children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to participate in dance, fitness and yoga classes or innovative workshops. Additionally, we can offer Special Educational Needs for the disability community with dance, fitness and yoga classes for children and adults. We provide a safe, happy and inspiring resource for children to learn new skills and keep fit and our services are provided at a realistic and affordable price.

HELPING YOUNG PEOPLE TO GET FIT, HAVE FUN AND FEEL GOOD

Synergy Dance Outreach produce a Fun in the School Holidays Project (FISH) that will engage children and young people between the ages of 10 and 16 in a dance programme that will:

  • Increase access to education, qualifications and skills/ increase employability: The programme will enhance children’s literacy, numeracy and ICT skills by facilitating participant involvement in on-going programme logistics and improvement work.
  • Improve Health and wellbeing (physical/mental/emotional): This is the project’s number one priority and it is in in line with Health Surrey’s Health and Well-Being Strategy – 14% of children in year 6 are classified as obese in Guildford according to Public Health England. The programme will benefit more than 120 children and young people aged 10-16 from across the social spectrum in Surrey, by providing recreational opportunities, improving physical activity that will reduce obesity and the emotional and behavioural issues associated with the problem.
  • Improve/increase access to Sport exercise and leisure activities and the Arts/culture/heritage: Extending opportunities to perform and share in responsibility for facilitating public participation in dance through trial of the new Synergy Shake-Up sessions planned for roll-out later this year. The project will begin in May Half-Term 2018 and run until Summer (September 2019) – More than 700 attendances will be recorded by the end of the project.
    Improve community cohesion and reduce isolation: The project will provide access to recreational opportunities that might otherwise be closed to communities – providing a scope for learning, personal development and friendship-making that will supporting the public by Building confidence and group work skills. Focus on the project will be for families in poverty – now standing at 10%, an increase of 2.2% against 2015 assessments according to Surrey County Council.
